How Online DVD Rental Works
Most online DVD rental companies operate on the following model:
1. Sign-Up and Start Browsing:
After you've selected your favorite online DVD rental service, you need to decide on the membership plan. You can select a limited DVD rental plan. Or you can select an unlimited rental plan and rent unlimited DVDs online. Select the plan based on the number of DVDs you plan on watching and how much you're willing to spend. The major DVD rental services offer free trial. So you won't be paying anything until the trial ends. If you cancel during your trial period, you won't be charged at all.
Once you have completed the registration, start browsing from the list of between 25,000 and 100,000 DVD titles. The titles are organized by categories or genres. The most common categories are action & adventure, classics, romance, thrillers, drama, television, and so on. There will also be categories of new releases and Academy Award winners. You can also use the search functionality to search by movie title, actor/actress name, director name, or anything else.
Yo'll be creating queue of movies that you want to watch. Your queue may contain from 1 to several hundred of movies or TV shows.
2. Create List of Movies or TV Shows:
Once you have completed the registration, start browsing from the list of between 25,000 and 100,000 DVD titles. The titles are organized into categories or genres. 3. Receive DVDs by Mail
Your DVD rental service will mail DVDs from the top of your queue on the next business day. The number of DVDs that you receive will depend on the membership plan you've selected. If you've selected a plan of 3 DVDs out at a time, you'll receive 3 DVDs from your list.
4. Watch DVDs and Send Them Back
You can keep the DVDs for as long as you like. But the longer you keep a DVD, the longer it will take to get the next movie from your list. As soon as you return one of your DVDs, the next movie from the queue will be mailed to you.
Each DVD package will come with a pre-paid return envelop. Simply drop it in your mailbox and wait for the next movie to arrive.
